Second try posting. After you check this light issue as mentioned, check for voltage with ther car off at the back of the alternator to ensure that it the positive lead is good. Should be the same volts as at the battery. Then with the car running check 2 things. Take the meter and check the voltage level at the alt positive on back and the negative probe on the alt housing. If the alt is good it should be at 14 or 15 volts. Next check from the alt positive but to the engine block this time. If you are not getting 14 or 15 volts but a lower amount then the alt ground wire is shot. These alts are rubber mounted so this happens. You can also take a jumper cable and connect the negative battery post to the alt housing while engine is running and if this charges the bat (also will give you the higher voltage at battery with this so check there for higher volts) then you know the ground is the problem."
