When I wa growing up in Ogden, Utah there was one station that had about twenty cars lined up constantly at the pumps. He sold gas 6 cents per gallon cheaper (major brands were 32 cents per gallon).
The hook was you never knew what brand you were getting..standard, Texaco etc. At the end of the day gas tankers would roll up and sell him anywhere from 100-500 gallons so their trucks would be empty for the start of the next day. But he did seperate Regular from Ethyl. Guess he gave cash to drivers and a few crooks would short their regular customers and then sell a bunch to him. Quite a few made a good living on the side I guess. Ah..the good old days...Not so good sometimes....
Keep on Saabin'
