...and I have to confess it's one of the things here that I don't really like. The seller says, it would be easiest if you pay in cash. Then he says, I can even pick you up at the airport. Seller seems reputable, has sold other cars through Saabnet. But something smells bad to me. I'm sure this kind of thing only happens in movies but here is a person heading into unfamiliar territory, stuffed to the gills with cash, to meet a total stranger, a stranger who knows exactly how much cash you'll have and that you'll be travelling alone. This is how bad people get away with doing bad things: by having naive people trust them. Next thing I know, I'll see on the news that they found Peter's body in a ditch somewhere outside Dallas...
I know this sounds beyond absurd, but it's a ton of cash. I just want to be SMART about this whole thing. Most people you meet are good and trustworthy. It only takes one person who isn't... I'm not suspicious by nature, just cautious (which I think is an entirely wise and defensible way to be).
