OK, I've been running a Palm III for about 4 years, and just picked up a T3 a week ago. I'm not a big fan of the PPC because it's a lot of work to get things going. And from what I've heard, it doesn't handle Word and Excel that well.
After hearing about the new T5, I went out and bought a T3. Cost me $299.95 last week at Staples. So far, I'm giddy over it. I installed the hotsync software on my powerbook, and I was doing Bluetooth Hotsyncs in less than 20 minutes. Just plain great.
Documents To Go 6.0 comes with the T3, and it handles Word and Excel files just great. You can read and edit them, and send them back and forth. It also comes with an Adobe Acrobat reader. Not seamless, but pretty good.
I picked the T3 over the Zires because I can't have a camera at work, and if I want a camera, I'll buy one. The T3 is a very nice business unit, with things like a vibrating alarm and voice recorder. The Zire is less of a business machine.
The T3 MP3 works fine, and you can even watch videos on it. The Palm units use Secure Digital cards - keep that in mind if you already use those (or don't) for othe units, like cameras.
