So I got some spyware on my PC at home then I bought a spyware removal program which removed most of them, then I upgrade to Windows XP Professional which caused "IUMS" errors, but worked fine once I hit OK.
Later, I added the latest McAfee virus protection (free download from my university) and later the hard drive would not stop running and CPUusage was high. I would have to sotp the process so that my computer wouldn't be bogged down. So then I just disabled McAfee. Then I got sick of that so I tried to uninstall it, but the computer froze up and my uninstall was unsuccessful, but I can't find any files from it.
I tried installing Windows Service Pack 2 and that was only successful after the third try. Now I get the error "I need ResXX/McShield.dll". I I get this DLL error continually whenever graphics are loading up with certain software, can't use MS IE or Windows Media Player or even File Search! Everything else works fine, such as MS Office, Quicktime, Netscape, etc...
And now, I can't reinstall McAfee because the university version is detecting the improperly uninstalled version and it won't let me proceed
I found some software that "fixes" your PC and before I buy it, I want to make sure it works, or that there aren't free versions out there that accomplish the same thing.
Please help!
Thank you in advance very much,
Atul
