No disorder, just acute bewilderment :-)
Let me start by pointing out I have been commuting 70-75 miles round trip every day since 1985. The same trip since 1987. All rural highway, midwest. Four or five traffic lights.
I would *not*, repeat, *not*, waste a good car for commuting. I drove a Honda Civic for 10 years and 176k miles. Drove a Toyota Corolla for 8 years and 180k miles. Now I drive a 95 900S (94k miles). The fun of driving something good and expensive wears out after you're out of warranty and have lost so much money because of high mileage and then repairs begin. That's just how it is. I could be commuting up and down Pikes Peak in a WRX and I'd feel the same way.
If you could provide some details about the commute we could take a shot at pros and cons of the various choices you mentioned. Also, the time you plan to keep the car.
