I finished Doom 3 and was very disappointed, but the action in Half Life 2 is very crisp and much faster and it makes more sense. It's not just a bunch of monsters popping out of walls just behind you which got very tedious in Doom 3. The police-state guards do a good job of ducking back behind cover and diving out of the way. They are not just sitting ducks. The sound is better. I'd describe it as a weapons-only version of The Matrix. There is nifty stuff with gravity and your ability to use almost any item in the game from 55 gallon drums to bottles and bricks. In retrospect, I would have purchased this over Doom 3.
