people saying it might not be a bad thing, and others saying whoa nelly!

i for one am against this sort of thing, and to take it a little further down the path, what if you have a classic car? "oh sir, no black box, i'm sorry we cannot sell you gas/insurance etc until you retrofit one to your car. after all it is for you safety."

as someone once said, it is easier to ask forgiveness than to ask for permission. if the boxes are installed oem, as they are now, it will be easier to "adjust" what info is gathered. "well they have been in cars for years, no problems with them...." you can bet the problem will get worse before it gets better.

anyone buy a tivo to get rid of the commercials? are you looking forward to the pop up ads youre soon going to have on your tivo? "well sir youre not watching the ads, we need to make money from them, you to watch them...." same thing, different story.

unfortunately these things will probably proliferate because people are too ambivilent to care to comment or fight the system. some will say its not a bad thing, others will say it is, and still others will work on figuring out how to prevent the data being used. of course, once you black out your black box, then you will get a call/service trip because your car is malfunctioning and for your own safety.....
