...doesn't mean they're in the same automotive class - Chevy trucks used LS1 engines. The LS2 is a great engine, but even '04 Z06 will outperform the HSV's and Goats. The only way a Goat beats a 'vette is in its' ability to carry more than two people. You'd have to spend 3 or 4 times more than a 'vette to beat a 4 second 0-60, a 9.5 second 0-100, or a 104' 60-0. On a racetrack or where corners are involved, the 'vette will stick like white on rice. And, the LS2 isn't what they'll stick in the new Z06's, either...they'll get the LS7 - a larger displacement aluminum block w/lightweight titanium conrods attached to aluminum flat-top pistons giving 11.0:1 compression, and six-bolt, CNC-machined, forged-steel main caps all assembled by hand at GM's new Performance Build Center in Wixom, MI. The LS7 will pump out 500 hp at 6200 rpms....and it won't be any heavier than C5 Z06's (7.7 lbs/hp)
