The car did pass him, he did see it slowing down and signaling....sounds to me like the cyclist hit the Saab or had it in for the guy to begin with. The only other thing I could guess is that the cyclist was running neck and neck with the car or in the blind spot, saw the front/side turn signal too late and got swiped. Hey both of them could have avoided the whole thing had they stopped. Or am I wrong? Yellow doesn't mean speed up or sprint and both the driver and cyclist made the same "cone headed" choice.

I have been hit 4 or 5 times myself; twice by driver's making turns into me (one guy crossed 3 lanes it was like I was magnetized ?!?!), once by a driver failing to STOP at a STOP sign, and once was entirely my fault (see 3rd lesson).
My experiences with getting hit have taught me three important lessons. 1- notice if parked cars have a person in the driver's seat to avoid getting doored and 2- never race a car or ride along side one, always have an escape path and 3- don't bike on sidewalks.
