Health insurance companies care not a bit about what kind of car you drive, whether you believe in their employees, or anything except how much money they will make off of their involvement. They are one of the few groups that are making money in health care nowadays. Thirty percent of our health care dollars in the U.S. go to health insurance companies. Next time you're in one of their buildings, look at how nice it all looks and ask yourself if your clinic looks like that. They are doing quite nicely, thank you, and the rhetoric of today has never identified them as a major "cost center" in health care. What gets you a contract with a health insurance company is being able to cut your rates lower than anybody else. Recall the story about one of the Apollo astronauts lying in the command module prior to launch, telling his buddies that he just realized that their rocket was built by the lowest bidder.
