Saw my first 9-7X on the road this morning.... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Tue, 22 Mar 2005 03:58:49 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
It was pulling out of a drive from one of the GM "Skunk-works" onto a local road I was driving on. It was barely dawn, so I couldn't identify the vehicle until I was almost at the drive/road intersection.
What I noticed first was the unusual paint striping. This vehicle had a broad checkerboard ribbon (maybe 5 inches wide) looking like racing's checkered flag, painted across the front fenders, hood, and doors. Admitedly it was still dark, but the stripe looked far better than it sounds.
Living in S-E Michigan, I have seen lots of pre-production vehicles on the road with either shape disguising camoflage paint, or completely covered with strap-on padded panels made from bullet-proof vest material, for the purpose of disguising the vehicle design details and manufacturer. This stripe was clearly not for that purpose.
I would have assumed this stripe to be someone's personal custom paint job if I saw it on any regular production vehicle. Being on an "Almost Released" vehicle makes me wonder if it will be a factory option.
