Back in 1979, I was in high school and got a job washing cars at a Honda new car lot. They also sold Saabs on the lot next door. Sometimes I needed to drive them as well.
I drove Hondas around for a couple of weeks before I needed to drive a Saab anywhere. I was immediately stunned by the difference between the cars. The Hondas were quick but shifted poorly and felt like tin cans. The Saabs felt like very solid in comparison, had beautiful interiors, and the manual shift on the Saab's were as smooth as silk. I loved driving the Saabs.
Fast forward 25 years. I started looking at buying a 9-3. While waiting at the dealer to test drive one, I started looking at the 9-5 in the showroom. It was at this point that I thought back 25 years and realized I had to own one.
