Amoco was bought out by BP and no longer exists as a company or as a brand to my knowledge. Regardless I don't believe major companies can stay out of the ME oil market. For example, on BP's web site here is only part of what I found for their Saudi operations (there are in other ME countries too):
Oil Trading: We have a contract with Saudi Aramco for the purchase of a significant quantity of crude oil, mainly destined for BP refineries in Europe and the USA. In addition, we also purchase fuel oil and naphtha.
So the BP info looks bad. Second thought is that just b/c a company doesn't import ME oil doesn't mean they don't sell it. They may get it from a broker or something that does the importation. Pretty tough more a major oil company to stay out of ME oil I'd think.
