OT: Killbox software Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Tue, 3 May 2005 15:53:15 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
A co-worker shared a story today about his home PC picking up a new virus/trojan horse last night. His anti-virus software could detect it, but could not clean it, quarantine it, or delete it. His spy-ware program could not even see it.
The virus installed itself into his boot sequence so even "Safe Mode" was no help. He eventually found some on-line advice (while on a clean machine) instructing him to down load and install "Kill Box" software.
This did the trick and eliminated the virus, identified as a req.dll file, from his machine. Anyone else have experience with this? Is it worthwhile having this program on your machine at all times for just this purpose, or is there a downside to running this?
TIA
