how happy I am.

I bought my first Saab ('95 900 SE V6 5d) about 4 years ago. Less than 2 years later it was stolen (I know it's darn near impossible - don't ask). My baby was gone. To top it off, my insurance company (AIG) took over a year to get the settlement check to my loan company, during which time I was making payments on a car I didn't have.

Two years later, it's time to get another car, but it has to be used and inexpensive enough that I can pay cash so I can carry liability only (comprehensive is astronomical after you have a total loss). I was not looking forward to a cheapy Toyota or (shudder) Ford or somesuch.

Imagine my serendipitous glee to find (on the web) a '95 900 SE Turbo 3dr in my pricerange! I don't even care that I overpaid for it and immediately had to put $3k repairs into it (it needed it and was worth it - drives like a dream now - thanks Chicago SaabTech)! I'm back in the (Saab) fold!

I now have not just a car that I can afford, but that I love to drive. Every time I get behing the wheel there's a big stupid grin on my face. In fact, I start smiling every time I walk up to it, push the unlock on the fob, and hear the happy little "yip-pee!" from Claire (I think that's her name - still testing it out) that is her way of saying, "Alright, you came back, let's go somewhere and find a road!"

The only sad part of the story is every time I get where I'm going and have to get out and hit the lock on the fob and hear her sad "eep" when she knows I'm leaving her.
