I can't really find a reason to complain about the gas prices. This rant is pre Katerina hurricane.

US consumers are the problem, we are driving the gas prices up. Supply is shrinking, while demand is either staying consistent or increasing. I'm one of them, because I commute 50 miles (roundtrip) to grad school. If we used more gas efficient vehicles and public transportation, gas prices would not be that bad. Instead, our society buys trucks that get less than 15 MPG. Until we reform our driving habits, then there's no relief in sight. I think we should implement a model similar to London's rush hour fee to encourage car pooling and public transportation.

When I lived in LA, I used to commute 27 miles (roundtrip) by bicycle. I miss those days.
