If the EPA recalculates the MPG, and if the new MPG numbers are indeed 10-30% lower than the current numbers, then the automakers will need to work harder to meet the current and future CAFE standards.
This will put more pressure on the automakers to trade-off the high HP numbers they currently advertise for better fuel economy.
