A Death costume is really easy, you'll need a pair of black gloves and black shoes. The hooded black robe is usually very easy and cheap to find around this time of year, or if you know anyone who sews it isn't hard to have one made up. If you get one with a deep hood, you don't have to worry about your face being seen, if not, then get the black make up and black out your face. A scythe (spelling?) can be bought at a hardware store for about 25 bucks and you are in like flint.
I and a friend of mine would dress up and hang out on his porch during Halloween with a bucket of candy in front of us. I would be Death and he would be a scarecrow. We would sit there very still, just like stuffed dolls until some kid came up to get candy, then we would move. It always gave the kids a great fright and it was great to see their smiles!
