Our 2005 9-3 Aero Convertible has yellow reflectors below the headlights in the black rubber bumper trim. The European version of the Aero convertible does not have the yellow reflectors in the front bumper strip.
I think the integration of the DOT required reflectors in the bumper strips s more aesthetically pleasing than having the reflectors built into the turn signal and rear light assemblies and probably makes better economic sense in the production process (cheaper and easier to modify a bumper strip than stock an duplicate turn signal housings).
