Hey,
I have always been picky about monitors, and ran dual 21" gateway trinitrons until I went LCD FP last year. I also work in IT so I got to "test" a bunce on them out there. I went to Dual 19" LCDs. Dual monitors rock :). And others are correct, DVI interface is better. One of my monitors is on Dsub and the other is DVI. The DVI Monitor's picture looks better.
At work we use the Dell Ultrasharps, they are the higher end units. I would say this is the safest bet. They come with a longer warranty, and have a better dead pixel return policy than most. If it's got more than zero dead pixels, you can return it. Other places have 8+. That being said, the Dell's are not the cheapest.
I went with two Hyundai Imagequest L90D+ 19" for myself. Two of them were a little more than $700. Image is on par with the Dells. I also have tested an L70s 17". Good price, but colors are not as vivid as the Dells. Sony's are good but expensive. I have also seen some nice Viewsonics latetly for a good price.
I have also tried the no-name units, and while they are cheap and get the job done I wouldn't want to be staring at them for an extended period of time.
