Since it's a hot topic here:
We recently bought a place upstate NY that came with an air-source heatpump (Carrier). Back in the day before the geothermal technology matured, these were desirable partially because the electric rates were predicted (accurately) to be more stable than oil. But my, do they suck watts. The idea's OK in moderate climates, but we're out in the country at elevation and this system churns when it gets cold.
Now I'm thinking of converting it to a geo system. Anyone ever try this?
