If by "crazy elephant red" you mean in touch with economic reality, then let me point out, respectfully:
1. There is not enough waste fast food french fry oil in any neighborhood to supply more than 2 or 3 hippies with "biodeiesel.' Once "biodiesel" goes maninstream, there is going to be a shortage, which means market prices.
2. Cheating on taxes does not seeem to be consistent with the "crazy jackass blue" philosophy. The main attraction of "biodiesel" seems to be evasion of highway taxes. Those "biodiesel" drivers ought to be willing to foergo the purchase of one or two Grateful Dead concert bootleg tapes monthly in order to send in some money to the tax man. Fair is fair.
I am extremely disappointed with public policy on energy, and I condemn both the elephants and the other jackass party for their abysmal leadership. We could solve the energy problem in 5 years if we made an Apollo Program-style national efffort. Sadly the leadership is lacking.
P.S. Before you rip me a new one, ask a Saab executive why they don't export their diesel cars to the USA, and when they intend to start. I did.
