Heres a strange one. We have a 4 year old 21" Sony Trinitron. Yesterday, the wife and I return from the grocery store and the tv is on. Naturally, I blame her for leaving it on (like she does with the lights, cabinet doors, etc). But I knew it wasn't her. The tv has turned itself on about a half dozen times over the years. This time I turned it off and 5 minutes later, noticed it was back on again. We've come home from the cabin in summer and have found it on as well. I think this only happens on weekends.
So, I figure one of three things. I have a "spirit" in the house. We never see or feel anything spooky aside from the common bump in the night, but we do curse the old man who used to live here (we keep discovering his odd and shoddy handiwork when remodeling). Or, the tv has a timer function that I've never figured out of know about. Or, someone is living in my walls.
Very weird. We know nothing of the history of the house, but it is one of the first in the neighborhood (1919). One of the longest owners (two before me) did a major remodel and addition in the 50's. He's the one we curse, and judging by the unorthodox applications of sheetmetal in the house, I figure he was in the tin business. Maybe there's a Poltergeist support club.
