As MM stated about % returns & commisions, there you have it. I was not only a broker with a 7 license but an options principal, series 4, as well. To get the most leverage & bang for your buck, you can BUY calls or puts, you want volatility. Calls, value goes up; Puts, value goes down. As a call or put buyer, the most you will loose is your initial investment. I would suggest options which are ( in or at the money ) as out of the money, unless your timing is perfect, will loose. I would suggest an index option such as OEX, DIA, QQQQ over an individual equity option. On the flip side, you can sell or write options, but most houses require a minimum balance of $20K for writing naked options. But you can sell covered call options on the stock(s) you own. If your really interested in the world of Options, you will need to study Black-Schoals, which is how premiums are determined based on the square root of time, to determine intrinsic value. Whoooaa, just realized getting to far out in left field now.....Hey, heres a good one for you..take your few hundred $$$ and buy a put or call on Google (GOOG) :)
