you make valid points mike. and i'm not sure i made this clear in my initial posting, i wanted to buy a car. i wasn't really making demands. in fact, when they came back with a cute tweak on how my paymnets would drop if the period was extended, i agreed to raise my initial request; but they never budged from the posted price on the car. fact is, if they would have some down even about $500, they probably would have sold a car and gained a new customer. my wife is in dental school, she graduates in a year. i work for a big 4 accounting firm. we are loyal to the saab name, and will likely be buying more saabs in the near future. it's a shame they could not meet a minimal drop in price. it's hard to represent here, but the sales guy was great. it was the manager who was demeaning in his presentation and delivery. my wife and i were calm and just sat there and took it. in fact, we felt that much more degraded since the sales manager was not even sitting at the table with us, but standing away with a raised voice that was garnering glances from other customers walking the floor. regardless of paycheck, sales techniques, etc. he was not acting in a manner that was trying to win business. who knows, had he come to us in a less abrasive manner, we might have even taken the sticker price and stomached the extra payment, but he was the breaking point. and it was definitely his personality that cost the sale. he made us feel cheap and un worthy of owning a saab. just over all not a good feeling.
