Dave used to play in Richmond a lot back in the early 90's. I remember a new years eve event at the Marriot in Richmond that he played. It was just one of those events where you buy a ticket for $20....nothing special...just something for a bunch of late teens, early twenties people to do on a new years eve. He also used to play this place called the Flood Zone in Richmond. It was to the point for a time that if you bought the ticket to see him at the Flood Zone you also recieved a couple of free drink tickets. I had seen him so many times around that era....he was nothing special. Then all of the sudden he blew up and I could never figure it out.

His early stuff was good but after the 3rd or 4th CD....it just all sounds the same.

I was at William & Mary around the same time Nate was but never went to see him there. None of my friends at school from the Richmond area would go either just because of the situation I outlined above. It was always something like "I'm not paying $x to see DMB....I used to see them for nearly free all the time".

Oh and Dave's always been into smoke....nothing new there. He is very proud of his drug use and it's influence on his life. Whatever?
