and if their phone/food/shaver/book/map/makeup/insertsomething here is not preventing them from turning to look that always helps too!
my brother and I were on a freeway not too long ago where another one merged at speed, actually a nice setup. However, we could see the young female driver in the "fast" lane of the merging freeway with a phone in her left hand could not possibly have seen *anyone* as she "merged" across four lanes of traffic to cut us off. We saw her early on (paying attention to your surroundings?) and avoided a mishap. I wonder what would have happened if we had had our cell phone in our right hand?
I think that whatever works for you and the vehicle(s) you drive is great. Sharing techniques and ideas is great too, we all learn from it.
Ever wonder if the HUV (that's house utility vehicle) driver used to drive a sedan and just isn't used to blind spots (ok, blind *areas*) that come with navigating those? Remember how many taking their drivers test prefer an automatic and the smaller vehicle? Gives them less distractions and possible places to fail the test, and they know it too. Wonder how many take the road test in the HUV's? So how do you parallel park this hummer anyway?
