I would do that if I thought it would work, but I just went through the reverse process (US to Canada) for my new car and saw that because both federal and provincial authorities are involved (as well as US customs for the export inspection), and sometimes more than one ministry in each, the info had to be compiled from several sources. In the end the steps were easy, but I found no checklist with a useful level of detail and presume the same would be true for a US buyer.
