"Are your kidneys OK? Contrast media can hit kidneys hard (even in healthy kidneys). This is even more pronounced in diabetics. The damage can be devastating."
Anti oxidants can eliminate most of these problems. The devastating result can be permanent kidney failure. Ask your radiolgist what to take to prevent this and if he does not know, maybe you need to find physicians that know these things.
" N-acetylcysteine has demonstrated benefits for people with pre-existing kidney damage who are undergoing coronary angiogram tests and are at risk for further kidney damage from the injected dye used to visualize the coronary arteries. Oral administration of N-acetylcysteine reduced by 86% the incidence of kidney damage in people undergoing this procedure."
You should stack Vitamin E, C and any other anti-oxidants that you can find. You can get N-acetylcysteine aka NAC at the places that sell heath foods and supplements.
Don't think that you kidneys are probably not vulnerable. They suffer from the same problems as other parts of the body from arterial decline. They can be working ok, but compromised, but not able to withstand the free-radical oxidative assault from the chemicals employed.
