I have tile floor and wood floor meeting in a couple spots at my house. I don't have any sort of threshold. It's just a 3/16" gap.
The image linked below shows the gap between my wood flooring and the tiled kitchen floor.
I've been told wood flooring should always have some sort of gap around the perimeter as it can swell/shrink with humidity. If the wood ever got water damaged, it would swell up and if there is no gap, push with destructive force against other materials.
