OEM and aftermarket are basically the same Posted by Rod [Email] (#3128) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Rod) on Fri, 3 Nov 2006 07:27:03 In Reply to: windshield damage hassle, Rafe, Thu, 2 Nov 2006 17:31:25 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
There are only a few windshield manufacturers in the world (Pilkington, Guardian, St. Gobain) and they all make OEM and AGR (aftermarket glass replacement) products for various auto manufacturers. The manufacturing process is the same, although the quality control tends to be better for the OEM market. However, if you are buying a replacement windshield you are buying an AGR product - there is effectively no such thing as an OEM aftermarket windshield.
There's nothing wrong with rejecting a windshield if it has obvious flaws - plenty of people do it.
