I broke my nose as a child and had a deviated septum consequently. I also had serious allergies. When I was 20 the allergies swelled the tissues inside the passages such that they touched and closed off one nostril. The touching caused severe irritation, which caused more swelling, etc. I was running and tearing continuously-just had to have the operation. The severe allergic problem has been utterly fixed, even though my nose wandered off-center over the years.
As for the allergies, they come and go in a lifetime. I agree with the Claritin suggestion-it works for me, and without side effects.
Good luck
