hello, are using flash? Consider making sure you are, and then take pictures at several distances of the same subject. pick a subject that is still and yet is busy, color, depth due to shape, some intricant. Do at intervals starting at the closest you can shoot and move back in 6 inch increments, go out to 6-8 feet. Take two at each distance. The compare. You may have a flash distance limitation that you don't expect, it may be that the lenses won't focus (is this auto focus?), make sure you don't have your finger over the autofocus mechanism, easy to do in the sub compact camera.
