Since I have not received the part in a return shipment after 4 months I have to assume that it was delivered.
The owner of Elite Auto recomended using US Mail vs UPS or FedX which I had suggested, then lied to me on a follow up call when he denied giving me those instructions. This leads me to believe that he has duped others with this tactic. He also included a sob story about how the mail service is terrible. If that were the case, why would he go out of his way to specifically recommend it to me for return shipment?
Knowing that he had lost the sale since I was able to find the part locally, my belief is that he simply restocked the cracked part for resale and kept the money.
All of my Saabnet connections in the past have been great and this experience was a genuine surprise.
Yes, I should have sent the part back fedx with a tracking number and signature. It is my fault for thinking I was saving time and shipping cost by following his instructions. At the time I thought I was dealing with a trustworthy person.
I was wrong.
Thanks for discussing and considering my warning.
