My .02 is to go for the job you think you'll enjoy doing most, or if both are 'equal', then go for the one is the place you think you'd like to live. Chances are your first job out of school will not be your last, so don't unnecesarily pressure yourself into thinking this is a 'lifetime' sort of decision.
And yes, if you can at all afford it, take a month off between graduation and starting the new job. Getting paid for being on vacation is wonderful, but you'll find it harder and harder to take more than a week or so at a time off.
FWIW, after I got my BSME I went to work for the Navy at NNSY. Why? Because I thought warships were neat and I wanted to go play with them. I've been all over CVN's 68-72 as well as a bunch of other smaller combatants and spent a week out at sea on the Nimitz during sea trials. After about 5 years I realized I was bored, so I quit and went back to grad school full time. I now work for an academic research lab and have folks from EB coming to me/us to help them get over certain technological hurdles.
best wishes,
Mike
