Are you going to the Saab event in Europe or the Saab Owners Convention in Troy, Michigan 8/23/07 to 8/26/07?
Are they too far away, too much money, too much time, or you can't make the date fit into your schedule? I hate it when that happens! What if there were *another* venue, one that you could make? Perhaps closer, less expensive, still more fun than a barrel of monkeys and packed with Saab enthusiasts? How about the http://www.24hoursoflemons.com where there will be three Saab Teams competing for all the nickels your granny lost in Las Vegas? 7/7/7 is a very easy to remember date, and if you are a numerologist... woo hoo! A party in the Pits with the SAABS GONE WILD team, more Saab notables in attendance than any local event, this promises to be the largest gathering of Saab people on the West Coast! YOU can make it Larger! You can be part of it, enjoy the race, meet the Saabistas you've chatted with, read their posts, and shared tips and techniques with! Scott Patterson, Walter Wong, Anders, Justin van Abrahams, Damien Shulock, John BIG SAGE, Sam Socal Dakotas, Michelle Hotlips Hagen, KrissySPG, OLDSAAB, and many more! Let's add your name or ID to the mix! The cost is $40 to attend the event race event (which includes two days of Hot racing under a Hot sun, Hot bikinis, we all hope!) and the FIRST ANNUAL SAABS GONE WILD pit party from 10p to 12midnight starting with the overnight break in the race and is FREE if you show a SAAB KEY!!! Tee shirts commemorating the event will be available too. The theme will be, the Rolling Stones gimme Saabs, err gimme Shelter! Protect us from the other bombs on the track. There will be a special SAAB parking area too, we want to mingle and show our Support for Saabs of any year or model! I’m still trying to decide what Saab to bring (other than the 85 and 86 900T’s that we will race – Box Wrench is racing an 88 SPG!) to the event myself.
Will you hear about it later, or be there to share the fun?
So, we are ALSO looking for two more drivers (ladies or gents) and the ONLY qualifications are: 1) are you very comfortable with driving a Saab 900 five speed? 2) Can you negotiate LA rush hour traffic and only hit a couple of cars while running down the shoulder of the road? 3) can you either – talk on a cell phone while driving – or – reload your gun while driving – or – avoid getting shot by an angry driver – or – can you read directions to a place of business while shooting or getting shot at? You can? YOU QUALIFY! Email me for the details and to git er done!
We also have several positions for other pit support people. Very important, most pretty easy but stuff that needs to be done each time a car comes into the pits. Figure 5-10 minutes of stuff to do about once an hour! All pit support people get free food and beverage, compliments of the sponsors. But you might have to wash paper plates... is that possible?
Interested? Send an email to theSAABguy AT cox.net and tell me what you want to do.
Thanks,
Lyle Parthemer
