Just thinking of the small boat option, a simple hand pump bilge pump. I have a sump pump issue, and it worries me that my pump could go out, or the electricity, or..... I think I'd actually end up doing a bucket brigade.
I do have a spare sump pump. I bought it on sale when I was told that the sump pump always died when most needed. It has been sitting there for 13yrs. This has been an active sump pump year, and I'm thinking of just changing it out. I've arranged the electrical that will cover most circumstances. The manual back up is hard....
My 10yr old 'adjusted' my bilge pump a couple of years ago. I wandered into the basement and found that there was a couple of inches of water in that end of the basement. A bit of explaination that the pump needed to be able to cycle fixed that problem.
