Let's review - what have we learned here? What we've learned -
Each manufacturer's CPO is different. No big surprise, everybody's cars, reliability and warranties are different.
Saab's CPO warranty coverage is pretty good compared to other CPOs. Look it up.
Carfax is a useful tool. But it's just one tool. We've all be told of the limitations of Carfax - unreported accidents remain unreported, titles can be washed, etc. A clean Carfax is a good sign, but it doesn't absolve one of all sins - it ain't a dispensation from the Pope.
An inspection is only as good at the folks inspecting it. See below.
Some car dealers can be unscrupulous. If this is news, I suggest you limit yourself to public transportation for the remainder of your days.
Some car dealers can be fair. I'm not saying they give cars away, I mean they provide a good product for a reasonable price. They do exist. Cherish them. Or at least buy cars from them when you buy a car.
When buying a car, New, Used, or in a container that says "Matchbox", inspect it. Yes, even when overcome by the smell and excitement of a new car, shake it off and look around and make sure it seems OK. Yes, it wouldn't be the same level of inspection of an older car, but inspect it. With a used car, inspect it. I know the dealer said it was inspected by a trained team. If he/she/it is unscrupulous, they may be lying (!) If they are a fair dealer, the crack team may have missed something. Don't assume conspiracy when mere incompetence will do. Or merely being human.
What does that last thing boil down to? You're spending a big piece of coin. It's important to take some responsibility for the purchase. It would be great to trust everyone you deal with, but until we've managed to remake the world, we must live in the world we've got.
Not willing to do that inspection yourself, either through lack of inclination or skill? - find someone you do trust, and have them do it.
In the words of the Great Communicator - Trust But Verify.
