OT: pre-med college selection

My daughter (who you'll be happy to know has become quite the SAAB snob since we gave her a 9-5 a year ago) will be a high school senior in another month, and we need to come up with a short list of colleges a few months later. She want to go into medicine, so between passing MCAT's, getting good GPA, and some college name recognition, the college selection is VERY important.
There's a small (1,150 students), private, Christian college only 40 miles away (Manchester College, N Manchester IN) that my firm has done work, that I have a real good feeling about. They claim to have an excellent record for their pre-med students being accepted into med school. My wife is ready to discount them, thinking that they're too small, that their curriculum would be too limited. The school just two years ago opened up a new $50 million science bldg, obviously a significant investment by them in the sciences.
Initially, we were thinking a school within a couple hours driving time of Ft. Wayne, IN, but we may be branching out (e.g. Creighton). My daughter has a 12.0+ GPA (on a 12.0 scale), and some merit-based scholarship would have to accompany private-school tuition to get it closer to state public school rates. Her SAT's are very good, but not at this same level. At some of the highly-rated colleges, she might be closer to the "average" freshman, so merit-based $'s might be hard to get, or enough $'s.
Sorry for the long post, but this decision might be one of the most important ones we help her make.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
