The system in the '06 9-3 Aero only makes sense to use if you are on a trip. With no street names on the map, it's a pretty poor design to be honest. When driving on a trip, where it flashes up the street names and guides you based on left/right/get on to interstate type commands, it's pretty good. I find it seems to lose its signal now and again. Not sure where Saab sourced the nav technology from for these earlier systems, but if there was an upgrade, I'd take it in a heartbeat. Saab really should offer some sort of software upgrade for it!
I've seen the '07 system, which is used in pretty much every GM car now....it's so much better...
