The reason I cautioned you about software changes is that you pointed out in your post that you got the TIS 2000 and hardware key. Those are more of interest if you want to change the software (especially the hardware key).
Yes, the TIS program also have the part where you can download data sampled with the Tech 2 and its snapshot function.
I was playing with that function in the beginning downloading sampling data from Tech 2 to PC but it didn't give me that much help (except displaying it in a bigger format) so now I just watch the data samples on the Tech 2 screen instead.
And as I said, if the Trionic computer already have the latest software, the 10Mb card in Tech 2 cannot access that ECU.
You can access all other ECUs throughout the car but not Trionic.
If it hasn't been updated yet, then yes, you can use the 10Mb card.
Another thing to keep in mind is that. The data stream that you see on the Tech 2 screen is filtered data which means it is data that the ECU wants you to see, not real live data from each individual sensor and switches.
The sampling rate of a scan tool is quite slow compared to a lab scope
so real quick glitches might not even be displayed.
To watch real live data, you have to hook up a lab scope (preferably with recording feature) on the actual wire from suspected sensor or switch.
