Having had an Exploder for seven years, I can tell ya that they are a great snow vehicle, but you still had better not push the bounds of physics. One of the big differences with an SUV is that they have a helluva lot of mass, and since they are top heavy, when you get it out of shape they are much more of a handful to get back under control than a car. At low speeds it's no biggie, but at higher speeds it can get dicey fast. They have what is called a "high polar moment," which means once it lets go it is harder to rein in, and they can be real twitchy when they get loose.
The other thing is that, sure, theoretically they can also get themselves unstuck, but you can still get the thing stuck right up to the frame with all four wheels spinning uselessly.
Still, when stopped on a 6% grade on ice, compound low will get you moving again. But I was real glad to see it go.
