Skiing in N. VT last week- some blasts from the past. Posted by IrieTom [Email] (#1032) [Profile/Gallery] (more from IrieTom) on Fri, 25 Jan 2008 10:02:50 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I took some time off and headed up to the Stowe VT area for some skiing last week. On the way up somewhere between Fair Haven and Vergennes, I drove past a yellow SAAB 96 that looked to be an early '70s V4. It was the first time in a loooong time I've seen a 96 in traffic.
Along the way, I saw lots of classic 900s and some 9000s, and a fair number of newer Saabs, too. Later in the week in Burlington, I exited a parking lot behind an '86 SPG which seemed to be in very nice condition. Even though mine went to the crusher a few years ago, it was great to see a survivor out there.
Over the week I managed to ski Mad River Glen, Bolton Valley, Cannon Mtn. NH, Sugarbush, and Stowe. Rock-hard and sketchy at the beginning of the week, but a couple of snowfalls made things great by the end. I also found a great brewpub in Waterbury called The Alchemist.
My dad was nice enough to lend me his '01 9-3 for the trip so that I didn't have to run tons of gasoline through my Safari van loaded down with ladders and tool boxes. The 9-3 is a good road trip car, but nowhere as much fun as the old SPG would have been if it was still around.
