OT - video editing software Posted by MJM [Email] (#872) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MJM) on Mon, 17 Mar 2008 05:58:01 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Again, hoping to take advantage of the breadth of knowledge here on Saabnet....
I'm looking for a decently powerful video editing package. I need something that'll let me take mpeg/mpeg2/avi/WMV/(&VOB would be nice) and splice, trim, rotate, add titles, etc. to, with output to at least AVI/MPEG2. The ability to pan stills (Ken Burns effect?) and string stills (JPEG/BMP/TIF) together in a video would be nice too. I can forsee the need to edit HD within a year or so.
I'm an engineer, not a video tech, so I'd like a short learning curve to the basics. I'll send difficult stuff to our video folks, but I want to be able to do the above tasks at my desk, with a minimum of effort.
In looking at what's out there, it looks like either Ulead MediaStudioPro8 or Sony Vegas Pro8 would work. They are priced similarly enough to be a non-issue. I just don't want to buy one and later realize the other has a unique, needed feature. Ulead has a nice feature sheet for MSP8 but I can't find a similar summary for VP8.
Thoughts? Comments?
thanks, Mike
