I'm looking for the collective wisdom of whether it is or is not a good idea to lubricate sealed ball joints (and tie rod ends, control arms, etc.) by injecting grease through the rubber boot with a hypodermic needle fitting on a grease gun. I have had a set of quality ball joints go dry on my SAAB in 30,000 miles, so the benefit is apparent; however I'm concerned about the small hole which will be made in the boot (grease leaking out, dirt finding its way in?) and its negative effect on parts which should last longer. Any opinions on this?
