I have no problem buying products manufactured in other countries, provided these countries have a reputation of factory employees being paid a fair wage and enjoying personal freedoms. China is not yet seen in such a light.
Do I trust that the owners of GearWrench have insitituted sufficient controls over their contracted manufacturing plants that pay is fair and abuses of employees do not occur? Or do I simply pass on an attractive price for a product that deliberately avoids identifying country of origin? I checked their corporate web site and it meekly states that their products are manufactured across the globe, but with no statement of a corporate human rights policy
I think ethics will win over economics on this one.
