Just had a look at a loaner Acura MDX and I was reminded of all the posts complaining about the amount of plastic in new Saabs. I have to confess, I don't see it. There was as much plastic in the Acura and it didn't look like it was any difference in quality over my 2008 Turbo-X. And there were things that were worse, like the center console, unusable when driving because of the sideways opening doors.
Also, our old MDX was in the Acura dealer for service and it cost $500 to replace all the dash lightbulbs in a 5 year old car. They can't fix or replace the radio -- they could only remove it and send it off somewhere. My 20 year old Saab 900 needed dash lights and it was $30 for bulbs and new holders, and I changed them myself.
Now I know we're all wondering what's going to happen to Saab, hoping for the best, and those of us who bought 2008s early in the year spent a lot more than those of you who waited, but I still don't have buyer's remorse. Of course, I always thought "Saabs are quirky cars driven by quirky people" was a badge of honor!
