If Chinese business is anything like Chinese government and of course it is since there are many entanglements:
Step 1: Outright denial and information suppression (e.g. Sars?, Bird Flu?, industrial disaster?)
We have no interest in purchasing Saab or other available make.
Step 2: Revised denial and information suppression allowing for possible hint of interest:
We do not seek to purchase Saab or other available make.
Step 3: Revised denial and information suppression stage 3:
We have no plans to purchase Saab or other available make.
After a few dozen more iterations you finally learn hundreds actually died in a massive industrial accident, outbreak or whatever it was. In our case, we eventually get to the point where we learn Saab has been sold. Not long after we end up about here:
New Saab clean bio-powered vehicle to be produced in Chinese factory using some of the dirtiest power and poorest environmental practices in the world. Oh isn't that ironic? But at least it will probably meet all Chinese crash test requirements.
