Certain states allow a deal to be rescinded or revoked on the part of the buyey prior to a certain number of business days having passed, with three being the magic number in numerous states. I don't think that any attorney is going to want to get involved in such a loser of a case, especially within another state.
"No Snaab" brings up the very valid issue of the potential responsibility you may have to bear regarding any parking tickets, red-light intersection cameras, the plates being mentioned as those on the getaway vehicle involved in the armed robbery of a 7-Eleven store, etc, etc......you see where this is going. If ANY issue would arise regarding the plates, YOU have filed a false police report by claiming the plates were "lost." If you ever have to deny any culpability of an action by explaining that you allowed this guy to use your plates, this whole thing could turn around and bite you on the a$$.
If the police ever discover that they've inadvertently "pimped" for someone, they'll follow up on the issue quite vigorously. Believe me, I know what I'm talking about. I'm not trying to be argumentative, but rather just playing the devil's advocate in looking a few possible steps ahead. Good luck.
